Uniform Standards Responsibilities

1. Setting and Maintaining Personal Standards: Set an example regarding uniform standards and personal grooming. You must ensure that your own uniform is always in top condition and adheres to all regulations (ideally 692 standards). Cadets will follow suit based on what they see of the standards of SNCOs, both good and bad.

2. Inspection and Correction: Regularly check that cadets are dressed correctly and in accordance with the established guidelines. When you see an issue, correct it as soon as possible; don’t wait for another Senior NCO to do it.

3. Offering Support and Information: There will always be times when cadets are unsure about uniform, accessories, badges, etc. Make sure that you are accessible for them to ask these questions, either during or outside of training nights (such as calling/emails). Don’t just say it’s wrong; tell them how to improve!

4. Understand the Importance of Uniform: While in uniform, remember that you are representing the air cadet program and as such, you should project a professional, positive, and honorable image. The uniform is an extension and reflection of your pride, discipline, and attention to detail.

5. Consistent Weekly Effort: Upholding all of the above does not happen overnight. To actually create long-term improvement, consistently thinking about these actions and executing them is key. Uniforms can always be improved, and there will always be something you can provide for other cadets.
